Five Dioceses Have Now Asked for Alternative Primatial Oversight
Thursday, June 29th, 2006A number of stories I just posted identify three dioceses that have asked for alternative primatial oversight. Two more have done so today. To the best of my knowledge, Fort Worth, Pittsburgh, South Carolina, San Joaquin, and most recently Central Florida have now made the request.
It is worth emphasizing that in doing so, none of […]
Lots of news happening right now
Thursday, June 29th, 2006I don’t have a ton of time to keep posting, but seeing as folks continue stopping by, I think I’ll use this as a clearing house for Pittsburgh information over the coming months. They are already promising to be interesting ones. Keep praying for all of us.
Diocesan Report on General Convention this Saturday
Thursday, June 22nd, 2006Just a reminder, there will be a report from the Pittsburgh Deputaiton to General Convention during the diocesan picnic at the Common Life Property on June 24. (That’s this Saturday). Bishop Robert Duncan, as well as a number of clergy and lay deputies, will be giving their sense of what has transpired over the […]
Over and Out from Columbus
Thursday, June 22nd, 2006As I get ready to start the drive back towards Pittsburgh, I wanted to say thanks to everyone who visited over the last two weeks. My statistics are incomplete, but it appears that during that time period, we averaged 500-700 unique visitors a day and served more than 12,000 pages.
I’m very thankful to Mike […]
B033 Passed in the House, By the Way
Wednesday, June 21st, 2006I’ve had a busy afternoon. I wasn’t here when the House of Deputies passed B033. However, they did do so.
Joint Session Completed
Wednesday, June 21st, 2006Well, that didn’t take long. The Joint Session is over. Matt Kennedy has a description of what was done and said. The bottom line is that there will be one more attempt by both houses to pass a very stripped down resolution that will simply say that the 75th General Convention “receives […]
Please keep us in your prayers today
Wednesday, June 21st, 2006One thing that is abundantly clear is that everyone, orthodox and progressive, is very, very tired. We have one more day of business in front of us. Please remember everyone at General Convention as you pray today. Whatever our position (or yours), we could desperately use it.
“Once more into the breach dear friends…”
D058 Discharged, Effort to Have ECUSA Reaffirm ‘Salvation By Christ Alone’ Fails
Tuesday, June 20th, 2006The effort to have the House of Deputies actually vote on D058 has failed.
Attempt to get ‘Salvation by Christ Alone’ D058 on the Floor Beginning
Tuesday, June 20th, 2006As I noted earlier, the Committe on Evangelism has attempted to simply have this motion discharged and not debated by the House.
A speaker is now claiming that language such as that found in this resolutions was used by those who carried out the Holocaust. A Fort Worth deputy has just said, “To me the […]
And Now for Something Completely Different
Tuesday, June 20th, 2006I’m on the far right. Michael Daley, communications officer for Anglican Essentials Canada, is to my left. This is about a quarter of the press room. The space immedately in front of me has largely been claimed by the Brits. National and regional reporters, as well as other diocesan communications types […]
