Thursday, June 29th, 2006Three conservative Episcopal dioceses that oppose consecrating gay bishops voted Wednesday to reject the authority of the denomination’s presiding bishop, but stopped short of a full break with the Episcopal Church.
In separate meetings, the Dioceses of Pittsburgh, South Carolina and San Joaquin, Calif., asked the spiritual head of the Anglican Communion, Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan […]

First Person: Peter Frank
Wednesday, June 21st, 2006This is the last first person of General Convention 2006. I decided after arm-twisting everyone else into doing it, I should offer one myself. I wrote this today.
Rain is falling on the Convention Center roof right now. The press room is quiet. This General Convention is quickly winding down.

House of Bishops Approves B-033
Wednesday, June 21st, 2006After beating back an attempt to water B-033 down even more, the House of Bishops has approved. It is worth noting that it appears that the House of Bishops will not be making any statement on the requested moratorium on same-sex blessings.

The joint session will discuss a resolution or a “Mind of the House” that both bodies would consider at the same time.
House of Bishops Debating Response to Windsor
Tuesday, June 20th, 2006This is going on right now. There are not a lot of options open right now to the House of Bishops. It doesn’t appear they can send the language of A161 back to the House of Deputies. However, they are discussing putting forward a “mind of the house” resolution.
This isn’t Over Yet
Tuesday, June 20th, 2006It’s worth noting that there will probably be some further attempts to bring something to the floor of the House of Deputies that deals with the requests of the Windsor Report. Whether any other resolution dealing with these matters will be able to get through the House of Deputies is another issue entirely, of course.
The […]
